High Time nicht mehr bei Youtube
Schon bemerkt? Unser aktuelles Video zu “High Time” ist momentan nicht bei Youtube verfügbar.
Anstatt des Videos erscheint der Hinweis: “This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions.”
Hintergrund ist der Streit um Onlinetantiemen zwischen GEMA und YouTube. Nach wie vor ist dort keine Einigung in Sicht.
Youtube zahlt momentan sehr geringe Gebühren für die Nutzung von urheberrechtlich geschützten Video-Material. Peter Waterman - Teil des Studiotrios Stock Aitken Waterman - hat seine durch Youtube erwirtschafteten Tantienen einmal offengelegt: Für seinen Hit „Never Gonna Give You Up“ aus dem Jahr 1987, gesungen von Rick Astley, hat er umgerechnet 12,33 Euro erhalten. Aufgerufen wurde das Video allerdings 154 Millionen Mal. Das bedeutet eine Vergütung von 0,00000008 Euro pro Stream.
Die GEMA fordert momentan ca. 1 Cent pro Stream. Problem ist allerdings, dass das Geschäftsmodell von Youtube noch lange nicht funktioniert. Über Werbung erwirtschaftet Youtube momentan angeblich nur 0,04 Cent pro Videoabruf - berichtet die Musikwoche (Nr. 17 2009).
Solange die Verhandlungen nicht abgeschlossen sind, sperrt Youtube derzeit nach und nach alle Musikvideos für deutsche Nutzer. High Time leider auch.

Das ist doch ein riesengrosss Armutszeugnis, oder nicht? Kuerzlich entdeckte ich einen aehnlichen Sachverhalt bei einem deutschsprachigen (!) Video der “Prinzen”. Ich bezweifle, dass dieses Video ausserhalb des deutschsprachigen Raums viel Interesse findet und daher ist es fuer die Band sicherlich absolut suboptimal, wenn ein Grossteil ihrer “Stammkundschaft” ausgesperrt wird.
Die GEMA faellt ihren Kunden durch ihr Vorgehen (sicherlich ungewollt) in den Ruecken, denn YouTube ist in nicht unerheblichem Maße auch eine gute Promotionplattform fuer Bands und ihre Musik.
“Frueher” wurden Musikvideos vorwiegend zu Promtionzwecken, quasi als Begleiterscheinung zur Musik, produziert und jeder freute sich ein Loch in den Bauch, wenn das Video dann auf MTV oder VIVA gezeigt wurde. Zur Not auch ohne Entgeld…
Nachdem auf MTV mittlerweile fast alles laeuft ausser Musikvideos, koennte man das riesige Archiv von YouTube auch als “MTV der Neuzeit” bezeichnen. Allein deren Serverpark stelle ich mir riesig vor, die Unterhaltungskosten desselben werden gigantisch sein. Lasst sie doch ein wenig an dem “User Generated Content” verdienen! Der moegliche, virale Effekt eines YouTube-Videos wiegt das Entfallen einer Nullkommairgendwas-Cent-Entlohnung pro Abruf sicherlich wieder auf.
Musik ist da, um gehoert zu werden und nicht dafuer, dass irgendwelche Kleingeister alles akribisch kaputtregulieren…

Das verrückte an der Geschichte ist doch, dass ihr alle eure Verwertungsrechte an ein Unternehmen (GEMA) abgegeben habt und somit nicht mehr über euer eigenes Material entscheiden und bestimmen könnt.
Was nützt es dem Inhaber der Urheberrechte (also euch), wenn ihr nichts mehr damit anfangen könnt.
Es bleibt nur das Abwarten auf den Tod, aber 50 bzw. 70 Jahre danach, oder Kündigung. Das ist aber auch keine ultimative Lösung. Trübe Aussichten.
